Optelec established its first foreign office 25 years ago, in 1989 in Schwalmstadt, Germany. To celebrate this occasion, the staff of the German office organized a special Open Door Day on July 27th. On this day, people were able to visit the office and participate in various interesting programs.

Visitors could try out all the Optelec products from the optical magnifiers to
the advanced electronic video magnifiers.
Ophthalmologist, Dr. A. Heinrich gave a presentation on Age-related
Macular
Degeneration, an eye condition that mostly effects people above the age of
60. Dr. Heinrich gave tips on how to reduce the risk of AMD and how to slow its
progress.
Optician, A. Oske explained more on the available solutions to increase the
contract for better visibility. A high contrast can be a key factor for people
with low vision to see better.
In several rooms, products from the last 25 years were exhibited so visitors
could see how the low vision aids developed.
Outside there was a bar, music and more activities to ensure that everyone
enjoyes this special day.
